The Bangalow Herald is written by the community, for the community.
Our contributors are volunteers who care deeply about this place and the stories that shape it. We welcome new and experienced writers, photographers and storytellers who want to reflect life in Bangalow and the surrounding hinterland.
While the Herald is volunteer-led, we offer honorarium payments for a number of feature-length articles in each edition. These commissioned pieces support in-depth reporting, original photography and carefully developed storytelling each month.
WE ARE PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN:
- Feature stories (800–1200 words) exploring local issues, profiling people, examining history or documenting change
- Arts and cultural coverage that treats creative work seriously and insightfully
- Council and community reporting grounded in clarity and accuracy
- Shorter columns in specific areas of interest including history, ageing well, environment, food, local sport and community life
- High-quality original photography, including the opportunity for commissioned exclusive cover images
We prioritise content created specifically for the Herald. Stories should reflect local knowledge, careful research and lived experience. We do not publish advertorial or overtly promotional material.
